The Wake Forest University Chicago Alumni Club hosted its inaugural Deaconfest event on July 23, 2011. The summer picnic was the club's biggest event of the year and featured food, drinks and entertainment. The event was a great sucess and there were over 60 area alumni, family and friends that attended throughout the afternoon. In keeping with the Pro Humanitate motto of the school, the event featured a raffle of prizes, all proceeds from which benefited the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund. The Piccolo Fund supports innovative cancer research projects led by young investigators at Rush University Medical Center.
